To the CUNY Latino archives

We celebrate the work that CUNY Latino institutions have done and continue to do; without their efforts on documenting the Latino experience in New York this project would not have been possible. We believe that Spanish adjuncts can be crucial agents for creating connections between your institutions and the language departments at CUNY. Spanish adjuncts can improve your presence in these departments, while also fostering the use of archives as pedagogical resources. In doing so, students and adjuncts will get to know your work and engage with it in multiple ways. As we have seen from surveys of the CUNY students and adjuncts participating in this project, the majority did not know about the existence of the CUNY Latino archives. This project should be just a step in tearing down these barriers, making these archives recognizable and accessible to the CUNY community. We are grateful for your support, and we would like to contribute to your endeavors. For instance, we would like to think collaboratively about how our pedagogical materials may be incorporated into your websites. At the same time, as users we faced some difficulties exploring your online archives and we believe that more refined search systems would improve access to your materials.
