In this track, dual enrollment instructors learned how to create dynamic and student-centered classrooms that promote critical thinking and active learning. Participants explored the principles and strategies of the "Building Thinking Classrooms (BTC)" model, developed by Dr. Peter Liljedahl for math classrooms, and gained practical insights into its implementation across STEM disciplines. Although BTC targets math classrooms, practices can be applicable across a variety of different STEM courses that include a focus on problem-solving and critical thinking. The following topics were explored: strategies to get students thinking, questioning techniques and facilitating student discussion, and fostering student autonomy and differentiating learning.
