A collection of 30 essays and short stories written by American author Washington Irving. The collection includes two stories, attributed to the fictional character Diedrich Knickerbocker: "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" and "Rip Van Winkle".

Originally published serially 1819-20; this text is based on the author's revised and expanded edition, published in 1848.
