HE 1400

Critical Issues in Personal Health

This course examines critical health issues from chronic diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes mellitus, to communicable diseases such as human immunodeficiency virus and other sexually transmitted infections. During this course, students analyze the role of health risk behaviors in the development of disease, injury, and disability, and design a personal wellness plan for health promotion.

The text for this course, Concepts of Fitness and Wellness by Lisa Jellum, Angelyn Riaz, Althea Moser, Jonathan Howard, and Jason Hitzeman, was developed as part of a Round 7 Textbook Transformation Grant, revised as part of a Round 11 Mini-Grant, and revised again as part of a Round 18 Continuous Improvement Grant through Open ALG, a project of Affordable Learning Georgia.
