Orgon is under the table in secrecy , listening to his wife Elmire, trying to seduce tartuffe to prove to her husband that Tartuffe is not an honest man. This also brings attention to a person who can be easily influenced/Tartuffeified. Versus a person like Elmire who is not easily influenced by the words of Tartouffe We can see later on that Orgon is surprised when Tartouffe makes advances on Elmire. She is essentially Baiting tartouffe to respond to her Seduction.
