Dep. Mayor’s Son Arrested

CSREA President Charles Drha, a retired detective, said that Deputy Mayor Bill Lynch’s son, William Lynch 3rd, 20, was arrested at 5:15 p.m. on Monday, October 23rd, in the Times Square station at 8th Avenue and 42nd Street on charges of fare beating. He was arrested along with seven or eight other riders at the time.
The son was taken to the headquarters of Transit Police District 1, at Columbus Circle (59th Street), in Manhattan. He was fingerprinted and photographed.
At the time of the arrest, said Drha, his father was reported at a meeting with Mayor Dinkins in City Hall. In September, young Lynch was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct, allegedly for refusing a police officer’s order to move himself from a park bench in Harlem and then getting into an argument with the cop. That arrest was voided by a deputy inspector of the Police Department.
The son is a student at Manhattan Community College.
