Image celebrates Pythagoras's discovery of the perfect intervals, showing him in four scenes: first, hearing the blacksmiths and the different sounds of their hammers; second, experimenting with different sized bells and glasses full of different amounts of water; third, using a weighted monochord; fourth, playing pipes of different lengths.
