Dear Bibbs,

Thanks for your big (rhino-size) HELLO
of the 11th, especially welcome at 55 bis in
view of your back surgery--which I hope leaves you
straight-up and kicking at this moment.
Since coming back from India I have been on
the go. After the Frankfurt Book Fair I went to
Brussels, where the literary Association Grenier
Jane Tony devoted its 10 October meeting (afternoon
plus later dinner) to De la rage au Coeur: a video-
taped reading (with French versions read by the Bel-
gian woman who has done engravings based on my poems)
and other readings of my poems in French by each din-
ner guest. Then on the 15th, I had an experience that
could have led to back-surgery: I talked with six
one-hour classes of students (6 in a row with a brief
break for lunch) at the international
Fete du Livre at des Langues
at the Lycé St-Expeéry st Mantes-la-Jolie. Teachers
there told me the overload was "by request" of the
students, but I still came home not very perky.
Got a letter from Ted and must reply today.
Say! You and an African Ballet! Why not, indeed?
Good luck with that new dancing. (Am now thinking of
my forthcoming reading at Oxford U. across the Chan-
nel with my 15-panel display. Fun, I hope.)
Take it easy till you can't,
      "Deadly J"
