This collaboration features Kiki Smith and Mei-mei Berssenbrugge. Smith and Berssenbrugge met through working on this mixed-media collage/video and subsequently became friends.
"The piece was a vehicle for us to become friends. The work is often only the by-product of an activity. It exists in the process not in the outcome." Kiki Smith says in this video about her collaboration with Berssenbrugge.
Berssenbrugge later introduced Smith to Scalapino's work, leading to their collaboration.
