The Animal is in the World Like Water in Water was published by Granary Books in 2010. The title is a phrase by George Bataille from The Theory of Religion. Leslie Scalapino's text was written in response to a series of drawings by Kiki Smith entitled "Woman Being Eaten By Animals."
