5. Exhibit 4: Maps of CCISD School Segregation
Below are three maps of Corpus Christi (plaintiff’s exhibits 4A, 4B, and 4C), which were colored by hand to show the segregation of Mexican American and Anglo/white students throughout the school district at the high school, junior high, and elementary school levels.
Corpus Christi Bay is at the bottom of each map, with the South Side to the upper left corner, the island beyond the bottom left corner, and the Port of Corpus Christ in the bottom right hand corner.
Exhibit 4C: High Schools
The gold section (on the far left side of the map) indicates a more than 90% Anglo/white student population (King High School). The dark red section (in the upper middle section of the map) indicates a more than 90% Mexican American and African American student population (Moody High School).
Exhibit 4B: Junior High Schools
The grey section (on the bottom left side of map, spanning from the bay to the South Side) indicates an Anglo/white student population of more than 85%. The purple section (in the center of the map) indicates a Mexican American and African American student population of more than 90%.
Exhibit 4A: Elementary Schools
The light green section (on the left side of the map, spanning from the bay to the South Side, and on the upper right side of the map) indicate an Anglo/white student population of more than 80%. The dark green section (in the middle of the map) indicates a Mexican American and African American student population of more than 85%.
