A Note on Method

Include challenges of considering openness, static-ness - these movements don’t stay the same, they evolve

There is a difference between what gets discussed within a movement space and what gets written down, let alone published. Especially when risk is involved. Though each of us has played a role in these efforts, we are not necessarily sharing everything we know. The best way to engage with the revolutionary spirit of movements is to participate in them, if you can.

Where we could, we have included published material from the movement themselves, acknowledging that what gets published by news and radio outlets can often tend toward neutrality. We’ve opted to share resources that are in the words of squatters.

It is rare to have a historian of a movement - someone who has recorded things from the beginning - you will see that emerge from what we have collected of various movements - some are more detailed than others

We acknowledge that each of these movements is situated in a different context and history - we’ve tried to represent them to the best of our ability here, acknowledging that three is more to learn…
