▶︎ La salud de los ancianos Los ancianos enfrentan varias preocupaciones de salud comunes. La hipertensión es muy frecuente. Esta condición aumenta el riesgo de enfermedades cardíacas. Otro problema es la diabetes, que puede causar complicaciones serias. La artritis también es frecuente y puede limitar la movilidad. Además, la demencia, que incluye el Alzheimer, afecta la memoria y el pensamiento. En el cuidado de la salud de los ancianos están involucrados varios profesionales. Los médicos de familia son esenciales. Ellos coordinan el cuidado general. Los geriatras son especialistas en la salud de los ancianos. Enfermeros y asistentes médicos proporcionan cuidado diario. Los fisioterapeutas ayudan con la movilidad y la fuerza. Los trabajadores sociales apoyan en aspectos emocionales y sociales. Al tratar a los ancianos, los profesionales de la salud deben considerar varios factores. El uso de múltiples medicamentos, es común. Esto puede causar interacciones negativas entre los medicamentos. Además, los ancianos pueden tener condiciones de salud múltiples, lo que complica el tratamiento. La fragilidad física es otra consideración. Los ancianos son más propensos a las caídas y las lesiones. Una comunicación adecuada también es clave. Algunos ancianos pueden tener problemas de audición o visión, lo que dificulta entender las instrucciones médicas. Para mejorar el acceso a los servicios de salud para los ancianos, se necesitan estrategias efectivas. Primero, es esencial facilitar el transporte adecuado. Muchos ancianos no pueden conducir. Los servicios de transporte comunitarios pueden ayudar. Segundo, la telemedicina es una herramienta valiosa. Permite a los ancianos recibir atención médica sin salir de casa. Tercero, es importante ofrecer programas de educación sobre la salud de los ancianos en la comunidad. Estos programas pueden enseñar a los ancianos y sus familiares sobre la gestión de sus condiciones. Finalmente, se deben fortalecer las redes de apoyo comunitario. ▶︎ Los abuelitos y su valor en la familia y comunidad hispana Los abuelitos hispanos desempeñan roles importantes en sus familias y comunidades. Su contribución es valiosa para la preservación de la historia cultural y los valores familiares a través de las narraciones de historias sobre sus familias y su comunidad. Al conversar sobre experiencias pasadas, los abuelitos no solo enseñan lecciones de vida, sino que también promueven un sentido de conexión con el pasado y un aprecio por la herencia cultural. En las familias hispanas, muchos abuelitos tienen roles de cuidado significativos, a menudo siendo los principales cuidadores de los niños mientras los padres trabajan. Esta responsabilidad compartida entre padres y abuelitos no solo fortalece la cohesión familiar, sino que también fomenta una relación de apoyo mutuo entre las diferentes generaciones. En los hogares hispanos los abuelitos inspiran gran respeto. La responsabilidad de cuidar a los abuelitos recae principalmente en la familia. Los hijos, nietos y de ser necesario la familia extendida se encargan de su bienestar, demostrando el valor de la familia y los vínculos generacionales. Esta conexión es esencial para la identidad cultural y el sentido de pertenencia. Muchos hispanos prefieren evitar los asilos de ancianos porque tienen una visión negativa de estos lugares. Prefieren mantener a los abuelitos en casa, donde pueden recibir cuidados personalizados y continuar participando en la vida familiar y comunitaria. Ven las residencias de ancianos como una separación de la familia y una pérdida de autonomía y dignidad. Los abuelitos hispanos son guardianes de la tradición y la cultura, transmitiendo historias, recetas y valores a las generaciones futuras. Su influencia trasciende las fronteras familiares y enriquece a toda la comunidad. Es vital reconocer y valorar su papel para fortalecer los lazos familiares y preservar la identidad cultural hispana. |

11.8.2. Conversa en Padlet sobre lo que aprendiste. Go to our course Padlet to talk about what you learned from your content creation and listen to others’ experience.
Beginners: Listen to the chatbot read the content you generated at least one time and practice any word you cannot pronounce. Go to our Padlet, read your 150-world essay out loud taking care of pronouncing each word very carefully. After your reading, share your favorite 10 words from the essay. Lastly, find a presentation from another person in your class level, listen to their presentation and leave a spoken comment of a minimum of 30 words.
Advanced: Read the content generated by the chatbot (also listen if you like). Take notes in order to summarize what you have learned. Go to our Padlet and talk for at least one minute about what you learned from the reading. Afterward, give your opinion on the content the chatbot produced and give it a rating. Finally, talk about other things you wish the chatbot had included in the essay. Once you have recorded your video, find a presentation from another person in your class level, listen to it and leave a written comment of a minimum of 30 words.
