Manifold Quick Guide: Basic Customization

You can customize the appearance of the header of your project’s home page by adding:

  • A hero image, which appears in the background

  • A cover, which appears on the right side of the screen

  • The name of the author, and (where appropriate) contributor

  • A paragraph of description

  • A button to download the eBook

This quick guide walks you through the steps of customizing your project’s appearance by adding these elements.

First, find your project by entering Admin Mode and searching for the title. Click on the project’s title to enter the edit page. To enter a description, hero image, and cover, click on “Appearance’ in the menu that appears to the left of the screen. Then, enter in a description of your project, and upload an image for the hero image and cover.

It may be helpful for users, especially students, to have the option to download your project’s text. To include a download link that will allow users to save a copy of the file that you ingested, scroll down to the “Download Options” section of the “Appearance” page. Here you can either enter in a URL or upload the file you would like users to be able to download. You can customize the text of the link by entering it into the “Download Call to Action” field. If you don’t enter in any text here, the link will say “Download EBOOK.”

Note that this link will provide users with the file that you uploaded; once downloaded, the file will not retain the format it takes on in Manifold and will not include any resources you have added to your project.

On the “People” page, you can enter in the author of the document, and, if you are not the author, you can enter yourself as a contributor. If you are not the author, entering yourself as a contributor is a good idea because it will help others find projects that you have created.

To enter authors and/ or contributors, click on “People” in the menu that appears to the left of the screen and enter the names in the indicated fields. If the author or contributor has already been entered into Manifold, the field will populate with their name after you start typing.
