EMERGING WORKS IN DIVERIAN LINGUISTICS

THE MISSION OF THIS JOURNAL

Emerging Works in Diverian Linguistics is offered as a periodical publication devoted to the ongoing work of scholars working along the theoretical lines established by William Diver.  Between 1975 and 1990, Diver edited and published in mimeograph form an eight-volume series, Columbia University Working Papers in Linguistics.  That series ended with Diver’s passing.  Emerging Works in Diverian Linguistics draws inspiration from and is meant, in part, to fill the gap left by the closing of that earlier series, but in an updated format and with flexibilities that are intended to assist authors in developing their scholarly projects.  The new digital format will allow easy distribution of works-in-progress and inclusion of not only written manuscripts, but of video, audio, and a variety of graphic types of presentation as well.  Importantly, it will allow authors to receive comments and suggestions as they work, and then to reissue their works in updated drafts.  At the same time, it will allow citation of these works, so that they can be referenced and ideas credited even before authors present them in final form.  Authors may choose whether they wish to have comments sent to them privately, or to have them published in an online discussion forum format attached to their articles.  Authors will retain rights to their own publications and can submit them to other publication outlets whenever they are ready to do so.

Viewing of the contents of Emerging Works in Diverian Linguistics will be permitted to the general public.  Notifications of publication and the right to submit works and comments on others’ contributions will be limited to subscribers.  Subscriptions may be applied for by scholars who are working in or who have a bona fide interest in the linguistics of the line of thought and inquiry founded by William Diver.  Subscriptions may be applied for and submissions, as well as other general correspondence, sent to the Editor at the following address:

Emerging Works in Diverian Linguistics is a not-for-profit enterprise, and there is no charge for subscribing or for submitting.  Submissions will be peer-reviewed.
