Notes on the Declaration of Independence
- Many of you will probably be familiar with parts of the Declaration, especially the Intro and the first sentence of two of the Preamble.
- Because of the Declaration’s structure, it isn’t as difficult to excerpt as some of the others here. Focus on what you’re researching, and allow that to guide you.
- When you recite an excerpt, remember that this is a document written in protest and anger. Your voice needs to be strident here.
- Possible topics here include any of the Intolerable Acts, the Boston Massacre, the First or Second Continental Congress, the French and Indian War, or any of the signatories.
- Here is the Resource Collection. This is not an exhaustive collection of resources, but it does give you a place to start.
