Robert Frost was born in San Francisco in 1874, though he lived most of his life in New England.

Frost’s themes include loneliness and life in rural New England

One of the most influential American poets of the 20th century, Frost is the only poet to win the Pulitzer Prize four times: in 1924, 1931, 1937, and 1943. He was the Poet Laureate of the United States in 1958-59. He also was awarded the Congressional Medal of Freedom in 1960.

Frost was so prominent that he read a poem, “The Gift Outright” at John Fitzgerald Kennedy’s Inauguration. You can watch that here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AILGO3gVlTU

He was the first poet to recite a poem at an inauguration.

Robert Frost died in 1963.
