How do past experiences with space influence our narratives and ability to engage with space? How do we discover the design elements of academic libraries that allow for new narratives and new attachments to space where patrons study and create? Join librarians, architects and designers to explore alternative approaches to ordinary design planning, applicable anywhere from modest renovations to new buildings, and adaptable across academic library types and sizes. This interactive pre-conference includes:

  • brief presentations on alternative design research,
  • guided exercises for participants in design methods, and
  • discussions on integrating these methods into design.
