Statistics analysis can get really fancy. Depending on what project you work on, you may learn some of this fancy analysis. However, statistics doesn’t have to be too fancy to be meaningful. If you have some key descriptive statistics and a good graph, you can often get your point across without doing a multilevel bayesian regression chain or whatever.

For this activity, we’ll learn some basic procedures in Google Sheets, which can help get a point across. We’re using Google Sheets because it's free and easy to share.

We’ll complete the following steps:

1. Make a new dataset

2. Enter data in row format

3. Enter data in column format

4. Find the mean/average

5. Find the median

6. Find the standard deviation

7. Make a confidence interval

8. Make a histogram

9. Make a line plot

10. Make a scatterplot
