This quick guide walks you through the steps of entering Admin Mode in Manifold in order to create a project. It assumes that you have either saved a file to your computer or have a URL for a Google Doc, EPUB, or HTML file that you would like to use to create a Manifold project. First, go to CUNY.manifoldapp.org and log in. Click on “Enter Admin Mode” in the upper right-hand corner. (If you do not see the “Enter Admin Mode” button, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org).
On the next screen, click “Add a New Project.”
You will be taken to the “New Project” screen; enter your title and an optional subtitle. Under “Layout,” answer a few short questions about how you will be using Manifold; these answers allow Manifold to suggest the content blocks you may want to include on your project’s home page. Click “Save and Continue.”
After clicking on “continue,” you will be taken to the backend of your project. You will return to this page whenever you want to edit your project. On this page, you can modify, add, or delete texts, resources, or the metadata associated with them, as well as adjust how the project appears for readers by adding hero and cover images and adjusting which content blocks appear in your homepage layout.
To add a text, click on “Texts” in the menu that appears along the left side of the page. On the next page, click “Add a new text.”
This will open a shelf along the right-hand side of the screen. Click on “Upload a File” to locate your file on your computer, and click “Open,” or enter the URL for your file if it lives on the internet. Click Continue. Click the green “Ingest” button at the bottom of the next page.
A long script will be generated. When it says “Ingestion Complete” at the bottom, click “Complete.” You will be taken back to your project’s backend and can view your text by clicking “Preview” under your project’s title.
