Required Computer and Internet
This class requires that you have regular access to a laptop or desktop computer powerful enough to run the graphics software used in this class (Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop). A tablet, Chromebook, or phone WILL NOT BE POWERFUL ENOUGH. This link will help you know whether your computer can run Photoshop: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/system-requirements.html
You also need reliable internet access to access Blackboard and the class blog, download and run software, download fonts, view videos, and upload work.
Limited laptop loans and Wi-Fi hotspots may be available from the College; contact instructor to inquire.
Note that the Adobe Creative Suite, although preferred, is not freeware; you may substitute any learning program or handskills for the skills used in the projects.
Required Textbook
Designing With Type, 5th edition, James Craig and Irene Korol Scala. $25, but can often be found to purchase used. Printed book preferred as page numbers are given. Check the college bookstore, Amazon, etc. Note that other basic textbooks, or no textbook can be used for this course.

- Baruch Microsoft MS365 Account (free with Baruch username), for backing up your work to the cloud.

**Linkedin Learning/Lynda.com is a great resource for students. You will use it to learn design programs on your own, or supplement what you are learning in class.Anyone living or attending school in New York State can have FREE access to Linkedin Learning/Lynda.com through a New York Public Library membership.
